Recycling

Recycle Now: A resource to help you find out what you can recycle locally

Selling

Leftover Currency:  Get paid for the old money in your drawers, including foreign currency and even obsolete or phased-out banknotes and coins.

Vinted: Sell your clothes and earn money that can be withdrawn or spent on new clothes

Donating

Funzi & Bodo Trust:  A locally-run charity supporting two villages in Africa, donating clothes here could save the life of a child or provide a new mum with a safe and medically supervised place where they can give birth. You can book a collection from them on their website

Share Skipton: The Library of Things is mostly stocked with items kindly donated by members of the public and local businesses. Find out what items they are looking for at the moment or how you could donate things you have on the website

Ilkley Thingery: Members can borrow a wide range of items, including tools, gardening equipment, kitchen things, camping equipment, board games and toys, for a fraction of the cost of buying new. They have a Wish List of things they are looking for on their website

Books, films and TV

I make no commission from these recommendations, I'd just like you to have them in your life!

Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals (Oliver Burkeman):  One of my favourite non-fiction books, this is down-to-earth, extremely intelligent and well-researched thinking, delivered with warmth, humour, and clarity. 'What if you tried to stop doing everything, so you could finally get round to what counts? Rejecting the futile modern obsession with 'getting everything done,' Four Thousand Weeks introduces readers to tools for constructing a meaningful life by embracing rather than denying their limitations. Drawing on the insights of both ancient and contemporary philosophers, psychologists, and spiritual teachers, Oliver Burkeman sets out to realign our relationship with time - and in doing so, to liberate us from its tyranny. Embrace your limits. Change your life. Discover how to make your four thousand weeks count.'

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up (Marie Kondo): A really interesting read, with some inspiring methods and useful, practical tips. The KonMari method is too rigid for me to adopt fully into my own practice, but it is certainly worth a read if you're looking to get inspired on your own decluttering and organising journey.

Organizing Solutions for people with ADHD (Susan C Pinsky) - a practical and compassionate guide to strategies for managing your posessions and tasks for people with ADHD. Adopting a completely different approach to mainstream organising tips, this book encourages you (and your organiser) to take a much more person-centred approach and work out what genuinely works for you.

Sort Your Life Out: I love Stacey Solomon's compassionate, kind personality, and there's always a buzz to be had from seeing someone so happy in their newly decluttered and organised space. On the other hand, I won't tell you what percentage of the items in your home need to go - our process will be much more collaborative and led by you and your goals!

Your Home Made Perfect: While this programme is more about the architecture and design of your home, I love the approach of looking beyond what your home is right now, and seeing what it could be. Whilst I won't be moving your walls, I might suggest switching the purpose of rooms around, to better meet your family's needs

Buy Now: Out on Netflix, this is a bit of a wake-up call about fast fashion, 'dispoable' technology and the way big corporations manipulate us into boosting their profits
